SEDEX AUDIT
SEDEX is a trade society that aims to develop ethical trading organizations in the supply chain. In other words, it is an audit system designed to help supply chains improve their performance. In order to obtain SEDEX Certificate, there are certain criteria that companies must comply with, regardless of supplier or purchasing party. The general name of these criteria is SMETA. SMETA, which forms the basis for the SEDEX Certificate, is constantly developing within itself in accordance with its purpose. In this way, it is updated according to the problems brought by time and the emerging developments.
The purpose of the SEDEX Document is a solution to minimize hazards, protect the company´s image, and communicate and support supply chain activities. It is the largest and most important common platform for knowledge sharing in the ethical supply ring. It stores data on responsible business practices and allows ethical performance information to be shared with multiple Brands and Customers. Participating companies can connect to a common database in the Sedex system, participate in the studies and contact the members. The analysis reports of the companies that have entered the ethical and social compliance reviews are also open to other member companies, and supply rings are created in this way.
The audits to be passed in order to obtain the SEDEX Certificate are carried out based on the ethical trade audit criteria called SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit). At this point, the focus of the information, trainings and meetings held under the consultancy of SEDEX Document will be SMETA conditions.
SEDEX Control Application
Sedex Audit is performed by approved audit firms. As a result of this inspection, a Sedex certificate is not issued, a Sedex number is given instead of a Sedex certificate. In the audit, compliance with Sedex standards is audited. Audit reveals the success or failure of the company in the field of social responsibility. The audit is planned and audited through Sedex documentation audit, human resources practices, occupational safety practices and international labor standards practices. The resulting nonconformities are uploaded to the Sedex system as an online report. Thus, supplier companies can enter the system with the Sedex number/code of the companies they want to purchase, and examine whether the company they are going to buy is in compliance with Sedex standards.
